Though her trappings are the same as other professional photographers-fancy camera, big lens, cool studio-Cathy Pinsky is different. She positions a shot like an art director, adjusts accessories like a stylist, and has a relaxed manner that rubs off on her subjects. Cathy captures not only your best smile, but the person underneath. She's hyper-aware of lighting, making everyday things like pasta, flowers, and even eye cream beautiful. She thinks of herself as an explorer, but she's also a guide, and her shots are examples of why pictures can be worth a thousand words.

Whether Cathy is working on corporate head-shots, product photography, special events or family portraits, her comfortable style comes from experience. She's done fashion (Calvin Klein was a client, as well as Madison Avenue advertising. Cathy was also a principal at image info, a digital photography firm that allowed brick-and-motar giants like Macy's, Bloomingdales, and fortunoff to sell online. By the time she sold the company she managed 40 photographers

The daughter of an entrepreneur and an artist, Cathy began taking pictures as a teenager, and in college, she worked at the photo lab so she could stay late and use all the dark rooms.

"Photography speaks to my technical and creative strengths," Cathy Says.
